We target some of the most pressing issues in Norwegian aquaculture, including: Sea lice infestations, Winter ulcer disease, Algal blooms in rearing systems.
The Problem: when a fish’s skin barrier is compromised (e.g., due to lice or wounds), it becomes vulnerable to infection. These welfare issues can lead to high mortality—Norway reported a 16.7% mortality rate in 2023.
The Challenges: Key disease challenges include infectious salmon anemia (ISA), complex gill disease, and winter sores. Traditional delousing methods, like mechanical or thermal removal, often injure fish and contribute to secondary infections.
The Solutions: Our response is holistic, nature-based, and sustainable: combining novel feed ingredients and innovative devices to bolster fish natural defenses. We are currently conducting proof-of-concept trials in Norway and actively seek partnerships with researchers and biotech firms to scale up.
